Professional Counselling Qualifications
Devon Counselling College is a small independent training college founded in 2006 and has facilitated the training of over three hundred students who have achieved counselling qualifications.
This is an exciting time to think about becoming a counsellor, as there is a growing recognition and acknowledgement of the value of our work. However, as there are currently no recognised training standards or regulation for counsellors in the UK, the different routes to qualification can feel a little confusing as you begin to research the various courses and training that are on offer – our team are always happy to talk you through this and to help you to find the best training for you.
This can be followed by applying for BACP Accredited Member status once a member meets the criteria and has been in supervised practice for more than three years.
Our Courses
We currently deliver an NCPS Quality Checked, Level 2 Introductory Certificate in Counselling, an NCPS Quality Checked, Level 3 equivalent Certificate in Counselling and the Level 4 Equivalent Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, which is the level required to practice as a professional counsellor in the UK. To see our full range of courses, look at our courses page.
In addition, we offer several post-diploma courses and workshops for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which are added throughout the year, so please keep an eye on our website.
Since we started Devon Counselling College, we feel incredibly proud to have assisted many learners in developing their counselling and communication skills. Take a look at the testimonials provided by a few of them, and our dedicated team would love the opportunity to facilitate your training and development in the future.
Post Diploma Qualifications
We recognise that being a counsellor or psychotherapist is a lifelong learning process, and at Devon Counselling College, we provide several courses that enable you to continue this process. For students who have completed a level 4 (or above) diploma in counselling or psychotherapy, we offer several courses to further your career and personal development. Our courses are designed to educate and inspire and will be a valuable asset in your development as a therapist and a respectable addition to your CV.
You may want to or already work with young people as part of your counselling practice, in a school, agency or private practice. Our Advanced Specialist Diploma in Working Therapeutically with Young People is innovative and creative and will give you the confidence to work in this area.
Our Advanced Specialist Diploma in Supervision is for therapists who already have experience working as a counsellor or psychotherapist and wish to further their training to support other therapists and trainee therapists. It will stimulate your creativity to encourage others to be more confident in their practice.
Many therapists are interested in Gestalt Therapy and thirst for more learning and participation in this area. Our Advanced Specialist Diploma in Gestalt Therapy offers you the opportunity to learn about Gestalt theory and to practice techniques, interventions and experiments.
We are also planning more courses and shorter CPD workshops for the future, so do sign up for our mailing list to stay informed.
